The SDDCA works closely with other stakeholders, particularly in relation to improving our environment.
We have worked with the University of the Sunshine Coast in relation to water issues, and supported USC in its bid for a water grant from the Federal Government.
The Association also collaborated with Chancellor State College in the development of a permaculture garden at the school. With the enthusiastic work of students, staff and the school community, the garden was established in 2006. Chancellor State College also completed a mass tree planting as part of National Tree Day in 2006. Nearly 2000 trees and shrubs were planted to provide an improved wildlife habitat for koalas and other local species.
The SDDCA assisted with the day and facilitated the donation of the trees by local developer and corporate supporter Investa Property Group.
Two students from Chancellor State College, Anthony Aloe and Matt Sauer, worked closely with members of the SDDCA, to do the initial planning of this website. The SDDCA is most appreciative for this assistance and would like to acknowledge the inspiration, technical knowledge and ideas that these students contributed.
