The council is committed to commencing works on the Chancellor Lakes retrofit in April 2009 with Lakes 7 & 8 work commencing at this time.
-
The Community Association in partnership with the Chancellor State College P&C Assoc. are petitioning the State government to address safety concerns and parking within Scholars Dve at the same time that they are putting greater demands on this already inadequate roadway.
-
The State government has again reiterated their position that there will be no direct access for the Palmview Greenfield site, regardless of what Investa and Council maps depict. The State government has indicated that they will be widening the Bruce Highway at Palmview to 3 lanes each way and adding service roads on each side. But, to date the State has not even sought funding from the federal government for the planning stage of the project. This would indicate that we could be waiting some time for this road network to materialize.

The SDDCA is monitoring the Sippy Downs Town Centre and are hoping to see a result on the S&L development. This makes up only part of the Town Centre but would appear to be the first of the development applications to be processed.

The Sippy Downs & District Community Association is tackling graffiti with a hands-on approach. Recently, fences facing University Way, which is the entrance to Chancellor Park Estate, were vandalised with unsightly graffiti.
As the fences are the responsibility of the home owner, council have advised that they are not in a position to remove this graffiti.
President Murray Lyons said, “We just want to see it gone. Graffiti is a problem in almost every community and we want to firstly remove it; then get the community involved in a program to eliminate it from this area. In this instance, we have obtained permission from the home owners who are appreciative of our assistance."
The SDDCA has called on the help of ‘graffiti buster’ Graeme Hall who is well known for removing graffiti on the Sunshine Coast. Graeme is pleased to be assisting and would like all communities on the Sunshine Coast to be more proactive on this issue.
On 22 August armed with paint, brushes and rollers, members of the community association had plenty of assistance with Member for Buderim Steve Dickson, Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie and Councillor Christian Dickson all pitching in.
Mr Lyons said, “We are fortunate to have such support from our local representatives and were also very pleased to have had the paint donated via Graeme Hall and tint and equipment donated by Bulk Building Supplies (Home Hardware), Chancellor Park.”
Local resident and painter David Holman was also on hand to offer advice and assistance.
“It is encouraging to see such a united community response. We would like to have regular graffiti removal days in the estate with many people involved. Through Councillor Dickson, we will be addressing this matter with council. Also, with the timely opening of the Sippy Downs Police Station, we intend to work with the Officer in Charge to reduce this type of vandalism. We hope that with local police on regular patrols, offenders will be caught.” Mr Lyons said.
Sgt Brett Young, Officer in Charge, Sippy Downs Police Station is one of the guest speakers at the SDDCA AGM on Tuesday night 25 August, where the issue of graffiti will be discussed.
The meeting commences at 7pm at the multi-purpose hall, Chancellor State College Primary Campus, Scholars Drive, Sippy Downs.
